A chain of custody is a document that is borrowed from law enforcement that tracks evidence from the time the Center for Computer Forensics gains possession of the item until it is released back to the owner.  This document contains the basic information about the client and law firm,  billing party, details about the media such as brand, type, serial number and other basic information.  The form also tracks each person  who has touched the media for such items as collection, imaging and return of property.  The form has an line entry each time it is removed from our media safe.
