Ives R. Potrafka joined the Center for Computer Forensics as the Senior Forensics Examiner in January 2004. Prior to joining the Center for Computer Forensics Mr. Potrafka served four years with the Michigan Attorney General's Office - High Tech Crime Unit as a Special Agent / Forensic Examiner and Internet Investigator. Prior to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office Mr. Potrafka served his community as a lawenforcement officer for approximately 27 years at the local and state level. He has served as a Patrolman, Deputy-Paramedic, Detective and Sergeant. At the time of his retirement from the Genesee County Sheriff Department, Mr. Potrafka was in charge of the Computer Crime Unit. Mr. Potrafka has extensive courtroom experience and has testified as an expert. Mr. Potrafka serves as a Deputy for Livingston County Sheriff as a consultant to the Computer Crime Unit.

Mr. Potrafka holds numerous certifications and has extensive training in the field of computer forensics. Mr. Potrafka recently earned his associates degree in occupational studies with a focus on computer related topics. Mr. Potrafka also has an extensive background in Internet services, having been the Chairman of the Genesee FreeNet (a non-profit ISP), and as the current owner of a web hosting business.
