E Discovery Links Print

The Internet is an excellent resource to find information on e-discovery and there is plethora of information.  Most information, however, is on vendor sites but these sites tend to focus on the state-of-the art.  If you are looking for good noncommercial resources on the basics of electronic document production, you need to look at these two sites.

The Sedona Conference website is a dynamic website so it is worthwhile to check every few months for new information.  This website bridges the gap between legal community and the IT community as it relates to electronically stored information.  The Sedona Confernce site offers a best practices approach for lawyers and related staff to better understand electronialy stared information and includes case studies relating to particular issues.   

Following are a few must reads that can be found on the website.

"The Sedona Principles Addressing Electronic Document Production, Second Edition (June, 2007)" - Also known as the 14 principles of e-discovery production

"The Sedona Conference® Glossary: E-Discovery & Digital Information Management (Second Edition)" - This is a directory of IT terms written for the law community.

"The Sedona Conference® Commentary on Preservation, Management and Identification of Sources of Information that are Not Reasonably Accessible"

edrm.net or "Electronic Discovery Reference Model" was created to develop guidelines and standards for e-discovery consumers and providers.  This site is also dynamic and is worth checking every once in a while.
